Grid Support System

Fluctuations on mains frequency and voltage occur when the consumed power is much more than the generated power at the transmission power systems where the reserve capacity value has a critical value. Therefore, either load shedding or more power supply with the new power plant investments have to be implemented. Load shedding causes power shortage with unpleasent situation for some customers. On the otherhand to generate more power in transmission line needs more investment to make new power thesis with higher costs and workmanship.

However, E-box is an optimum solution for this problems that needs much lower investment as well as requiring “zero” workmanship thank to design of system. That energy storage modules which are placed irregularly run by power signal and start up order coming from transmission line after the interval even for a few milliseconds and prevent the collapse of the grid.

If the users require extra more time for exporting power to the grid, bi-directional converter structure can be fed by generator sets powered by alternative fuels such as natural gas, bio fuel, diesel etc. without increasing grid short circuit capacity. As well as solar farm or wind turbines or other alternative methods. In case of grid frequency increases instantly, it helps to stablizes at the required frequency by charging the battery set and with loadbank when the battery charge level is full.

As a result of the increase in the demand power due to the increases caused by urbanization, the existing electrical infrastructure (distribution transformer,reaaching to the feeding switchgear current limit, electricity distribution line, etc.)has started to become insufficient and energy problems have emerged in some industrial facilities.

Therefore, the plants and facilities have started to be fed up with diesel generators or gas turbines in island mode instead of the grid. However, this energy requirement fluctuates during the day and generally causes difficulties in rush hours which we call as “Peak Hours”. And the fuel cost can effect your production cost easily.

In most of the facilities energy consumption is not constant and fluctuates during the day, the E-box energy storage system monitors the grid in the event of insufficient power, and transfer the energy stored in the network to the grid very quickly and prevent power outages. And charges it’s batteries when the reserve capacity increase thanks to grid observer modul.

If the stored energy is insufficient, the system is fed by using renewable energy sources or natural gas generators for same cases without increasing short circuit capacity by bi-directional converter structure inside E-box.

However, due to the low response of natural gas generators, they are not connected directly to the grid and operate at the highest efficiency at constant power until they charge the batteries via E-box, thus keeping the cost at the optimum level.

The fact that electric vehicles start replacing fossil-fueled vehicles today will also bring about a virtual problem we are not aware of.

The demand that will arise during the charging of such vehicles will considerably reduce the reserve capacities of power system and will leave the regular consumers confronted with blackout reason for power outages.

For this reason, it will charge E-box batteries during night hours when the network is empty and the prices are very reasonable, then that stored energy will be used to charge the vehicles in the peak time.

Most drivers arrive home in the evenings concurrently when the network is at the peak time, they charge their vehicles and possibly deplete the reserve capacity by causing the network to outage. On the other hand, the E-box will store this energy during the hours when the energy consumption and cost are minimized and will supply to the vehicles as DC or AC, and if necessary, it can export this energy to the grid as well.

Therefore, they don’t have to pay much as well as not overloading the grid without causing critical problems.

Reason for using modular system, the scale of the system is infinite and it starts from 67kW to 500kW in 20ft container. Container contains bi-directional modular converters, batteries, air condition system, fire suppression system and low voltage switchgear panels.

System can be supported with diesel, gas or alternative fuel supplied generator sets, solar farms and wind turbines also to increase the running hours.
